Project Introduction
At the onset of this unique project, I ventured into the fascinating world of Immersion Cooling – an advanced technology that involves submerging electronic devices directly into a liquid to prevent overheating. This innovative cooling system offers a more efficient heat dissipation than traditional methods, crucial in sectors where high performance and reliability are paramount, such as data centers and high-performance computing. The aim of this project was to create distinctive branding for Liqomi, a pioneer in Immersion Cooling, starting with a dynamic and symbolic logo that visually captures the essence of their specialty.
The challenges were multifaceted and stimulating. Liqomi presented an inspiring image as a starting point – a detailed visualization of colored liquid in free fall around an invisible sphere, intended to capture the essence of their technology. The complexity of translating this detailed image into a scalable, vector-based logo tested my creativity and technical skills. The goal was to design a logo that was both simplistic and detailed, featuring round shapes for a friendly appearance, utilizing pastel colors that convey coolness, and that would be instantly recognizable and memorable at a glance. The brand style had to seamlessly integrate with the logo, enhancing every dimension of Liqomi’s brand identity and highlighting their market position as leaders in Immersion Cooling technology.
Project Introduction
At the outset of the project for Liqomi, a pioneer in Immersion Cooling technology where equipment is submerged in fluid for more efficient heat dissipation, I was tasked with creating a distinctive branding. The challenge involved transforming an inspiring visual concept of fluid in freefall around an invisible sphere into a scalable and symbolic logo. This logo needed to be simple yet detailed, using round shapes and pastel colors that symbolize coolness, and be instantly recognizable and memorable. My goal was to develop a brand style that seamlessly aligns with this logo, enhances Liqomi’s innovative identity, and underscores their leadership position in the technology sector.
Concept Development
My journey in brand development for Liqomi began with a fascinating challenge: how to translate the essence of Immersion Cooling into a logo? Inspiration came from an impressive image provided by the client, where liquid dynamically enveloped an invisible sphere. This image had to be transformed into a visually strong concept that embodied both the technological innovation and the liquid nature of their main activity. Initially, I played with the idea of a 3D model where a sphere was central, but after delving deeper and receiving feedback from the client, this idea evolved into a more representative form: a cube, symbolizing the physical hardware within Immersion Cooling systems.
The translation from concept to concrete logo design was realized through an iterative process of 3D rendering. This approach allowed me to swiftly consider different shapes and compositions, with a special focus on the interaction between the inner cube (representing the equipment) and the surrounding liquid. This method enabled experimentation with perspectives, lighting, and shadows, to create a dynamic yet streamlined design that aligns with Liqomi’s visual identity. The feedback sessions with the client were essential; each design iteration led to refinements that ultimately resulted in a seamless balance between abstraction and recognizability. The end result is a logo that not only reflects Liqomi’s advanced technology but is also versatile enough for use across a wide range of media and formats, from digital applications to physical products.
Initial inspiration. The client desired a concept similar to this fluid dynamics around an invisible sphere.
First 3D render. My task was to place something within this sphere that ‘would be surrounded by fluid’.
Sketch with cubes. Reflecting on the idea of symbolizing equipment with geometric shapes within the sphere.
Quick Photoshop design. A light blue cube placed as a basis for discussion with the client.
Cube design. Proposal for the inner cube with an anthracite color reflecting color accents of the sphere.
Proposal for double cube. A suggestion to design both the inner and outer shapes as cubes, maintaining ‘friendly’ rounded corners.
Lighting impression. A representation of how light and shadow interact with the cubes.
First color sketch. The cubes are colored, with hard color separations to soften later.
Adjusted sketch. More open design for better visibility of the inner cube, with adjusted colors to less blue and more turquoise.
Final color of outer cube. Colors now more saturated and with a greener tint on the outside; colors subtly blend into each other.
Chrome cube experiment. A test with the inner cube in chrome to reflect the colors of the outer cube.
Anthracite cube. Back to a darker gray for the inner cube as the final choice. Scroll down for the final logo.
Concept Development
My brand development project for Liqomi began with the challenge of translating Immersion Cooling into a logo, inspired by a dynamic image of fluid encircling an invisible sphere. Initially experimenting with a 3D model of a sphere, the concept evolved into a cube, symbolizing the hardware within the cooling systems. Through an iterative process of 3D rendering, I was able to test various shapes and compositions, leading to a dynamic and streamlined design. This process included intensive feedback sessions with the client, which were crucial for refining the design. The final logo, embodying Liqomi’s innovative technology, is versatile across various media.
Vector Art and Brand Style Development
The transition from my 3D concept to final vector art marked a key moment in the development process. After incorporating client feedback on the 3D models, I began the careful conversion of the selected designs into vector art in Adobe Illustrator. This process was crucial to make the logo not only aesthetically appealing but also functional and scalable for various applications. The final vector art combined the dynamics of liquid movement with the strength of the cube, reflected in the anthracite, mirror-like high gloss finish that characterizes both the inner cube and the brand name Liqomi.
This visual identity became the foundation of the brand style, meticulously documented in the Branding Guidelines. This book, an essential tool for brand consistency, outlines the uses of the logo, color palette, typography, and other visual elements. It ensures that Liqomi’s brand identity is uniformly applied across all media and communication channels, from digital platforms to physical promotional materials, contributing to a recognizable and coherent brand experience.

Vector Art and Brand Style Development
After incorporating client feedback on the 3D models, I transformed the selected designs into vector art in Adobe Illustrator, a process crucial for creating an aesthetically appealing, functional, and scalable logo. The final vector art, featuring an anthracite, mirrored high-gloss finish, combines the dynamics of fluid motion with the solidity of the cube, and forms the foundation of Liqomi’s brand identity as documented in the Branding Guidelines. These guidelines ensure consistent brand application across all communication channels and contribute to a recognizable and coherent brand experience.

Brand Style Implementation
Following the development of the logo and the establishment of the brand style, we focused on its broad implementation across various media and materials. The aim was to create a unified brand experience, both digitally and physically, reflecting the identity and values of Liqomi. It began with customizing the company vehicles; the corporate cars were wrapped in the new brand style, prominently displaying the logo against the backdrop of the distinctive liquid movements and colors. This not only ensured recognition on the road but also served as a mobile business card.
Next, we extended the brand style to all corporate communications, from envelopes and letterheads to business cards. Each element was carefully designed to embody the aesthetics and philosophy of the brand, utilizing the same color scheme and typography consistent with the logo. This coherent visual identity strengthens the Liqomi brand wherever it appears, from the first letter to the last digital touchpoint, underscoring their commitment to quality, innovation, and aesthetic finesse.
Brand Style Implementation
After developing the logo and brand style for Liqomi, we created a unified brand experience that conveys the company’s identity and values both digitally and physically. It began with transforming corporate vehicles into mobile business cards, complete with the new style and prominently displayed logo. We then implemented the brand style across all corporate communications, from stationery to business cards, ensuring each element consistently carried the logo’s color scheme and typography. This coherent visual identity strengthens Liqomi’s image at every point of contact, highlighting their commitment to quality and innovation.
